Rocksmith 2011 and its DLC are getting delisted from storefronts

Ubisoft is currently working on its upcoming Rocksmith+, but as one new rocker enters the stage, another one leaves. The publisher has announced its plans for gradually pulling Rocksmith (2011) and its DLC from digital storefronts in the coming days.

Starting on Oct. 17, 2021, Rocksmith (2011) will no longer be available for purchase on any digital storefront. And soon thereafter, the DLC for Rocksmith (2011) will start to be delisted from platforms as well. The Xbox 360’s lineup will all go offline on Oct. 17, while other storefronts will go delisted at times to be determined; you can follow the Ubisoft thread here to keep up with what’s leaving.

Though the guitar trainer will be leaving the storefront, the Rocksmith (2011) on-disc songs and DLC for it will still be playable in Rocksmith Remastered. You can use the disc import tools to bring that content over ahead of their de-listing. And if you have the game on disc, you’ll still be able to access owned content. Owners of Rockstar (2011) will also still be able to download, re-download, and play their content—the major change is that it will no longer be up for purchase for new owners.

“We couldn’t be prouder of what the original Rocksmith accomplished in the realms of both rhythm gaming and interactive guitar learning, and that first installment taught us an incredible amount about what guitarists and bassists expect from software that lets you play along with your favorite songs on a real instrument,” reads today’s announcement. “It truly set the foundation upon which we’re still working to bring you the most innovative, interactive music learning experience possible.”

Rocksmith+ held a closed beta over the summer, so the franchise will still keep carrying on and teaching folks to play their six (and four) strings into the future. But still, hats off to a guitar tool that I used for a long time and taught me how to play Cherub Rock.
