Rita Daniela admits she had an ‘almost love story’ with Ken Chan: ‘Yun ‘yung masakit’
Rita Daniela opened up about her “almost love story” with Ken Chan, confessing it affected her so deeply that she cut off her communication with the actor for quite some time.
The actress was asked about her side of the story in her then-relationship with Chan in an interview for “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Thursday, June 15. This was after show host Abunda brought up the interview he had with Chan last February, in which the latter revealed he had developed feelings for Daniela.
“Ang masasabi ko na lang, ‘yung nangyari sa amin ni Ken is an almost love story,” the actress said. “Kasi ang almost, ‘yun ‘yung masakit… Parang so close yet so far.” (What I can say is, what happened to us was an almost love story. It was painful. It felt like [we were] so close yet so far.)
Abunda asked her, “Nahulog ka, ano? (You fell for him, right?)”, to which she replied, “Oo naman.” (Of course.)
“Hindi ko po ipagkakaila ‘yon, tsaka wala gano’n talaga e,” she continued, stressing how she initially believed she wouldn’t fall for a love-team partner. (I will not deny that and, well, it was what happened.)
Daniela then disclosed that they parted ways for some time but eventually reunited when Chan visited her and her son Uno. She also underscored how she came to realize that even after all that happened between them, she still considers Chan as her best friend.
“Actually, we stopped talking for a long time,” she told Abunda. “I had to give time to myself because ‘yung nangyari sa amin ni ([after] what happened between me and) Ken, I just didn’t lose a friend. I lost a best friend and a family in one. That was very painful for me.”
“But OK naman kami, naging OK kami,” she added. (But we’re OK. We are already OK.)
Meanwhile, Daniela revealed in the same interview that she and the father of her child have broken up after being in a relationship for about four years. /ra
