‘Ridiculous’ Smith act that left legend fuming
Australian cricket legend Allan Border was left “shell-shocked” by Australia‘s performance in the first Test against India.
Australia was bowled out to capitulate to an innings and 132-run loss on day three in Nagpur.
Ten wickets fell in a session as Australia was rolled for 91 runs – the nation’s lowest-ever innings score in India and second-lowest total against India at any venue.

Reflecting on Australia’s woeful second innings on Fox Cricket, Border was particularly irritated by the Aussie batters congratulating the opposition bowlers for good deliveries.
“Play with a harder edge. I mean, we’re giving blokes the thumbs up when they’re beating us outside the off stump,” he said.
Notedly, Steve Smith was guilty of the act, giving Ravindra Jadeja a thumbs up after the spinner beat his outside edge.
“What the hell is going on? That is just ridiculous,” Border said.
“Don’t go stupid, but Australia play hard-nose cricket.
“We’re even giving someone thumbs up … bloody hell.”
Smith set Australia’s highest score of the second innings, finishing not out with 25 runs from 51 balls.
