Rick Riordan Has an Exciting Update for the Percy Jackson Disney+ Series’ Filming Commencement

Renowned author Rick Riordan has some news, and Percy Jackson fans might want to brace themselves while hearing it.

Following two live-action adaptation movies which released in the previous decade, Riordan surprised everyone when he announced that his characters will be revisited in the live action format with the upcoming Disney+ show, Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

The news about the show getting picked up by Disney+ came late last month, and since then fans have patiently waited for more information about it from both the showrunners and the author, and the latter has delivered, with almost everything.

In a recent blog post on Rick Riordan’s website, the American writer shared some interesting tidbits about his trips to both Burbank and Vancouver as part of his work with the show.

In Burbank, he was part of the chemistry read auditions with the many young actors, who are in the running to play the show’s lead characters in Percy, Annabeth and Grover. While Riordan stated that the crew haven’t decided on the casting, he did reveal that the “process is moving along well.”

Following a short stint at Burbank, Riordan and his wife Becky then headed over to Vancouver, where the show will be shot later this year. According to the author, the show ill commence shooting on June 1, which is just a few months away.

Riordan also teased his fans with the set visit photos by refusing to reveal the set design as they’re obviously big spoilers.

With the show set to begin production in a few months, it seems like it wouldn’t be long before the Percy Jackson fandom finally find out about the casting, and they can’t wait to see what the show will have in store for them.
