Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley has spoken about the prospect of starring on Strictly Come Dancing – saying he’d agree to it, so long as he can partner with Johannes Radebe.

Safe to say, we really want this to happen.

The presenter was interviewing Johannes and his dancing partner John Whaite ahead of the show’s upcoming live tour, when his co-star Susanna Reid inquired about the chances of Richard signing up to the competition.

When asked if he’d ever be up for starring, Richard said that despite being a huge fan he could never do it.

He said he was ‘obsessed’, but admitted he felt ‘too old’.

‘Physically, I mean I’m 65,’ the host added. ‘It’s my back.’

‘Hang on a minute, this is sounding like excuses now,’ Susanna teased.

‘I think you must jump on board, Richard,’ Johannes urged him.

The presenter then replied: ‘Only if I can dance with you.’

‘There we go!’ a delighted Susanna said. ‘You heard it here first!’

We really hope Richard isn’t joking – we need to see them dance together.

John and Johannes made history last year, becoming the first same-sex male competing couple since the series began in 2004.

The Strictly finalists recently shared their excitement at getting to dance once more on the show’s live tour.

The pair made it all the way to December’s finale, going up against Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice who went on to win the competition.

After finishing as runners-up, they’re back dancing as they prepare for the nationwide live tour.

Appearing alongside the finalists from the 2021 series on the upcoming tour will be Sara Davies and Aljaž Skorjanec, Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu, Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzman.

Maisie Smith will step in for AJ Odudu after she was forced to withdraw due to an injury, pairing up with Kai Widdrington.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
