Ricci Rivero describes his ideal girl, says no regrets about failed romance with Andrea Brillantes
Appearing indifferent to the backlash of his breakup with Kapamilya actress Andrea Brillantes, Ricci Rivero mouthed off the characteristics of his ideal girl.
Speaking to former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on his vlog which was uploaded on his YouTube channel, the collegiate basketball player said that he has simple tastes and is looking for somebody who can become part of his “core group.”
“Pero ano ‘yung hinahanap mo sa babae (What are you looking for in a girl)? Just for the sake of conversation. Anong tipong babae [gusto mo] (What kind of girl you’re looking for)?” Moreno asked him.
“Mature,” Rivero immediately said in response. “Simple, family-oriented, and may takot sa Diyos (faithful to God).”
When asked about his greatest learnings in his past relationship, he said that when he was being true to himself, he would not go wrong. He said that he was not very fond of “flexing” things as he wants to keep certain things about himself private. He said that he has no regrets about his failed relationship with Brillantes.
“As long as alam mong nasa tama or nasa totoo ka, wala ka namang kailangang i-regret or wala kang babalikan,” he said. “Mas okay din po siguro [na] wala ring masyadong taong involved sa relationship kasi mas wala ring mangingialam [sa inyo].”
(As long as you know you’re right and keep it real, you don’t have to regret anything or get back to anything… Perhaps, it’s better if they were fewer people involved in your relationship because no one wouldn’t meddle.)
He further said that he does not “entertain noise” to be able to move on, as long as he was in the right and was just being true to himself, nor does he feel that he has an obligation to explain his side to his critics.
When asked if he thinks that he has any obligation to explain to people who may have been hurt by his actions, Rivero said no.
“Yung obligation parang wala po, kasi una di naman nila alam kung ano talaga ang totoo. Pwedeng may narinig silang isang side, yun lang ang alam nila, hindi naman lahat. Sa akin, siguro hayaan ko nalang sila kung ano man sinasabi nila. Marami rin naman umaabuso. Hayaan nalang natin sa legal team natin,” he said.
However, Rivero’s listing of qualities of his ideal girl draw the criticism of netizens, particularly on Tiktok, with some asking him if he really meant what he said during the interview.
One @sarsi said, “Hindi sya pogi pero he acts like pogi sya and believes it to [himself] and also [makes] others believe (He’s not handsome but he acts like he’s good looking and even believes it. He even makes others believe it).”
Another @MonicaOcampo wrote, “halata user tlg sikat lng sa uaap kung di galing to isa lng din tong mukhang taeng lalaki [laughing emoji] poging pogi sa sarili (It’s obvious that he’s just a user. He’s just famous in UAAP but he’s such a womanizer. He finds himself so handsome).”
Tiktok user Nomad said, “unahin mo sir ‘TIPO KO SA BABAE YUNG DI BIGLA BIGLANG PUMUPUNTA SA CONDO KO (Be upfront sir. My type of woman is someone who doesn’t make a surprise visit in my condo).’”
Their comments were in reference to Rivero’s admission during his “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview that Brillantes had indeed found a woman in his condo, but that the woman was not “his.” Brillantes, however, asserted that Rivero failed to mention that the mystery woman she found in his place was stark naked.
Rivero also drew flak for supposedly being “ungentlemanly” when he revealed in his interview with Boy Abunda that he and Brillantes sometimes sleep together, at the same time, saying that he didn’t try to win her back after their split.
Rivero confirmed that he and Brillantes had split last June 9, as he asked the public to “respect their decision” to keep their relationship matters private. EDV
