Revising Birthdays – Leona Zerezghi, St. Michael’s Catholic Grammar School
Study Dates
One of the best ways to hang out with your friends on your birthday while also doing some productive work – though this can be questionable based on how easily you and your friends get distracted – is by having a study date! This can take place at a local library, a cafe or even in your own home. Grab some snacks and it’s a party featuring expanding double brackets.
Revision Games
Every student will find that at some point in their life, they will be doing a Kahoot and will have a most competitive spirit from the deepest pit of their soul emerge. Kahoots are really interactive and fun due to the competitive aspect of them and they are free to play at home! Playing with your friends allows you to simultaneously learn and revise content for your exams but in a way that is engaging and entertaining; additionally, you can always play a non-revision related Kahoot during your breaks – there are loads of great ones on topics like Disney characters and Taylor Swift.
Take a Break
Understandably, most people don’t want to have to revise why the British Civil War broke out in 1642 on their birthdays and an easy way to get around this is to have a break on the day. While this is not always possible – such as if you have an exam on your birthday – you are always able to schedule your revision around your birthday so that you can have the day off! This also prevents you from burning out before your exams.
If none of those methods appeal to you, there is always the option of celebrating your birthday after exams are over. Exams only last for a maximum of 2-3 weeks but after your birthday, you stay that age for a whole year. Take time for yourself and be kind to yourself this exam season, and if your birthday does fall during it, happy birthday!
