Reva University introduces programmes in film studies and sports science – Times of India

BENGALURU: Reva University, Bengaluru announced starting of several innovative programmes including one in film studies and sports science.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the university on its campus in Kattigenahalli, P Shyama Raju, chancellor of REVA University said: “We are well equipped to support the students interested in the field of film studies. To pursue a career in this field, students need to acquire skills in cinematography, editing, screenwriting, and direction. Moreover, collaborating with production houses can offer emerging filmmakers valuable exposure and networking opportunities,” he said.
The university is also starting a programme in B Sc sports science and an athlete wellness programme. Rahul Menon, the founder of 91 Sporting, said: “At a professional level, athletes face a psychological issue. They are being addressed at an elite level. However, what about student-athletes? The athlete’s wellness program run at a university level is important as these are the formative years for 17- or 18-year-old aspiring athletes.”
“Incorporating Initiatives for athletes’ well-being that are often taken by associations such as SAI, and the Federation of Badminton. But to incorporate it into the university curriculum provides an athletes-friendly approach teaching them to with stress, financial management, rehabilitation from injuries, and mental wellness of the students will help make India a sporting nation,” he said.
