Retired NFL player lists custom Tahoe mansion for $10.2M

Retired Oakland Raiders left guard Robert Gallery is seeking a $10.2 million touchdown for his property on the western shore of Lake Tahoe.

Gallery, 42, and his wife, former Iowa women’s basketball player Becca McCann, fell in love with the area while vacationing there during the NFL offseason.

They purchased a second home in Tahoma in 2006, before Gallery retired in 2012 after eight seasons in the NFL.

The couple decided in 2018 to move with their three children from the San Francisco Bay area to the unincorporated California community of Homewood full time, commissioning the compound and significantly employing nearby contractors.

“The amount of local artistic talent, paired with attention to every detail, made our vision a reality,” Becca said in press materials. “Our incredible team created every inch of our home to be specific and functional for our everyday Tahoe lifestyle.”

The result is the 5,670-square-foot abode, set on 2.38 acres that back up to US Forest Service land (one of the best insurances of seclusion a homeowner can ask for) within “close proximity” to the lake.

The aesthetic is “Tahoe lodge” meets “modern industrial,” a design that involved lots of custom steelwork, exposed beams and wood.

Its Tahoe-ness was celebrated with the “Tahoe Style” award in Tahoe Quarterly’s 2023 mountain home issue

There are two residences on the property, which was completed in 2020: a main house and a fully-detached guest house with one bedroom, one bathroom and four built-in bunk beds.

The primary residence, meanwhile, has five bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, a floating steel staircase forged by local blacksmiths, a 20-foot floor-to-ceiling, double-sided fireplace, a wooden bar, and a 1,400-square-foot covered deck.

The address is part of the Tahoe Swiss Village homeowners association, meaning the buyer will have access to the two buoys, two piers and private beach across the street.

The listing is held by Amie Quirarte.

Gallery, who was the second overall pick of the 2004 NFL Draft following a legendary run at the University of Iowa, put his East Bay home on the market in 2020 for $5.9 million. He sold it for $5.1 million.
