Red faced star’s hilarious live TV apology

Australian football great Mark Bosnich issued a hilarious apology on Stan Sport after sleeping in and missing the start of Thursday morning’s Champions League coverage.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper was conspicuous in his absence as Max Rushden and Craig Foster opened the pre-match buildup ahead of 5am AEST kickoffs in Madrid and Liverpool.

“We think Mark Bosnich has overslept,” host Rushden informed the early riser viewers.

“If you’re watching Bozza, hope you’re well, hope we’ll see you at halftime. We’ll crack on if you don’t mind Boz and just get on with the show anyway.”

Bosnich did make it to the Sydney studio for the quarterfinal fireworks, as Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Liverpool advanced in chaotic fashion.

After offering his expert analysis and slapping Atletico Madrid for their antics, ‘Bozza’ was encouraged by Rushden to issue a formal apology for the alarm clock faux pas.

“If you can just talk to Australia, take us off air, apologise to your family, your friends, to the nation. There you are, down camera three,” Rushden said.

By this stage now bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, Bosnich rose to the occasion superbly.

“OK, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for another wonderful morning of Champions League once again,” Bosnich began.

“One is very, very sorry and apologetic for not being here this morning as I slept in. But before we go I would just like to say a massive thank you to Max Rushden and Craig Foster for covering for me this morning and you’ll see us all tomorrow morning at the same time for the Europa League, West Ham versus Lyon. Thank you and goodbye.”

Rushden clapped his hands in delight.

“Beautiful!”
