Red Devils lose their heads again and fall to Dortmund at end of US tour
MANCHESTER UNITED LOST their heads and another game on their US Tour in heated scenes in the desert.
In a crazy first-half teenage prospect, Omari Forson was hauled off by an angry Erik ten Hag for getting in a scuffle with Karim Adeyemi.
Then when Donyell Malen scored his second goal inside a minute to put Borussia Dortmund ahead Brandon Williams ended up in a ‘four letter’ heated exchange with goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
It didn’t end there with Harry Maguire getting the verbals from new goalkeeper Andre Onana in the second half as well.
It had started so well too with Diogo Dalot curling a cracking opener home from 20 yards after being neatly teed up by Donny van de Beek on 24 minutes.
But shortly afterwards 19-year-old winger Forson, who had started the game so well, got involved in a tussle.
He first tried to tackle Adeyemi, then kicked out at Julian Ryerson.
He was furious, turning on Forson and Adeyemi then got straight involved as the two players pushed their foreheads against each other.
Forson also swung an arm. Both players were booked and Ten Hag immediately told Antony to warm up.
Minutes later Forson was hauled off and Ten Hag spoke to him for a minute with his finger pointed out to the field telling him exactly why he was being brought off.
The player looked visibly upset before Ten Hag patted him on the head as he headed to the dug out.
Dortmund were level on 43 minutes when a great turn and run by Adeyemi opened United up the and when the ball was forced to Malen he executed a fine scissor kick finish.
Straight from the restart it was two.
Heaton played Victor Lindelof into trouble and he gave the ball away allowing Malen to add his second.
He was in so much space because Williams had been slow in coming out and played him offside.
But as the United veteran goalkeeper made that point Williams turned round and appearing to shout ‘it was your fuck up’.
Onana turned on Maguire for his positioning that allowed Dortmund another chance on a shambolic night of defending from the Red Devils.
It was at least all smiles on 52 minutes when Antony fired United level with a low curling finish into the far bottom corner.
Just past hour Ten Hag made eight changes and two of those linked up for what should have seen United taking the lead.
Marcus Rashford broke down the left and squared but Aaron Wan Bissaka launched a shot high and wide.
It got worse for the right full-back when in the 71st minute he gave possession away and slick passing from Dortmund ended with Youssoufa Moukoko turning the ball in from close range for what proved to be the winner.
Not long after the final whistle United were leaving Las Vegas after a third straight tour defeat having gone down 2-0 to Real Madrid, 3-1 to Wrexham.
It was a night when this gruelling pre-season tour in the heat with all the travelling looked like it had got everyone.
