Real Madrid think Mbappe is a ‘prisoner of money’ due to incredible wage demands
KYLIAN MBAPPE is considered a “prisoner of money” by Real Madrid chiefs, according to reports.
The forward is claimed to be on a staggering £893,000 a week at Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe, 24, has one year remaining on his PSG contract and last month signalled his intention to leave the French capital in 2024.
Real Madrid have long been considered the Frenchman’s most likely suitors, and came close to signing him last year.
They will launch another bid to secure his signature on a free transfer next year.
But as they prepare their package, Real chiefs believe that Mbappe will have to make concessions in order to secure the move.
According to Marca, the Spanish giants’ chiefs see Mbappe as a “prisoner of money” who needs to accept a pay cut if he really is eager to leave PSG.
In a statement released to AFP last month, the forward said: “I have NEVER discussed any contract renewal with PSG.
“The board has been informed since July 15th, 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 — and the letter sent was only meant to confirm what I already told them.”
Real Madrid lost star striker Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia this summer.

But they are not expected to recruit a high-profile replacement before next year.
Former Stoke and Newcastle flop Joselu, 33, has arrived on loan from Espanyol.
Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of Tottenham star Harry Kane, but Real are expected to wait for Mbappe to become available in 2024.
The PSG star has also been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea.
But Real Madrid remain the heavy favourites to land his signature.
