Tesla CEO Elon Musk has responded to the report in Wall Street Journal (WSJ) about his alleged affair with Google co-founder Sergey Brin‘s wife, Nicole Shanahan. In a series of tweets that are basically replies, he has slammed the report calling WSJ falling to sub-tabloid standards.
All replies are in response to tweets from Tesla fan groups on Twitter. In a tweet tagging Musk and WSJ, Tesla Owners Silicon Valley @teslaownersSV asked if they can do anything about this. To this, Musk responds, “Call them out on it, I guess. WSJ is supposed to have a high standard for journalism and, right now, they are way sub-tabloid. WSJ should be running stories that actually matter to their readers and have solid factual basis, not third-party random hearsay.”

There’s another tweet from Tesla Hype @TeslaHype that tags Musk’s May 18 tweet, where he has warned about political attacks on him escalating dramatically in the coming months. To this Musk replies, “Yeah, the character assassination attacks have reached a new level this year, but the articles are all nothing-burgers. I work crazy hours, so there just isn’t much time for shenanigans. None of the key people involved in these alleged wrongdoings were even interviewed!”

What WSJ report claims about his affair with Google co-founder’s wife
According to the WSJ report, Google co-founder Brin asked his advisers to sell his personal investments in Musk’s companies in recent months after learning that he had a brief affair with his wife.
The report claims that Musk had an alleged liaison in early December with Shanahan. The incident is said to have taken place at the Art Basel event in Miami when Musk had broken up with his on-again, off-again girlfriend Grimes in September. It cites unidentified people familiar with the matter. It says that the brief affair ended the long friendship between Musk and Brin. According to the Journal, Musk even asked Brin for forgiveness at an event later.
Brin filed for divorce from Shanahan in January. The two are currently negotiating the terms of the divorce.
