Rakesh Jhunjhunwala sells 25 lakh shares of Delta Corp; stake falls to 6.2%: Report

New Delhi: Ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has trimmed his stake in the casino and recreation company , suggest media reports.

According to ET Now, Jhunjhunwala, often called Big Bull, sold 25 lakh shares of Delta Corp between May 27-31. His holding in the company declined to 6.2 per cent from 7.5 per cent earlier.

Following the update shares of Delta Corp tanked more than 7 per cent to Rs 202.45, before settling at Rs 212.30, 2.70 per cent lower.

According to a regulatory filing by the company, the seasoned investor and his better half jointly held a 7.5 per cent stake in the company at the end of March 2022.

Jhunjhunwala held 1.15 crore equity shares or a 4.3 per cent stake in the company, whereas his wife Rekha Rakesh Jhunjhunewala held 85 lakh or 3.18 per cent stake in the company as of March 31, 2022, the company’s regulatory filing showed.

However, ETMarkets.com could not independently verify the selling of shares and it could not be ascertained that the stake sale is done from which account.

Earlier this month, there were some reports stating that a council of ministers have recommended a 28 per cent goods and services tax (GST) on horse racing, casinos and online games.

ET Now had reported citing sources that GoM (group of ministers) has recommended 28 per cent GST on casino, horse racing and online gaming. All kinds of online gaming will attract 28 per cent GST as well, it said.
