Rajwa Al Saif’s jaw-dropping engagement ring contains a pear-shaped diamond

Rajwa Al Saif, who is getting married later today, received an amazing pear-cut diamond engagement ring from Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan last year, designed by the jewellery label Harry Winston.

The bride and groom will tie the knot at Zahran Palace in Amman around 4pm local time, which will be 2pm in the UK.

Harry Winston is an American luxury jewellery company, whose founder was known as the “King of Diamonds”, and has built a reputation for providing some of the best white and coloured diamonds in the world.

Rajwa’s ring is pear-shaped, which refers to its unusual tapered design and versatility in terms of how it can be worn on the hand – either with the point looking up or down.

The 29-year-old has been seen wearing the ring both ways, which demonstrates the jewel’s versatility.

A pear-shaped stone is usually worn according to royal tradition with the point pointing away from the wearer so that admirers can view the stone’s point first.

However, Rajwa is likely to choose how and when to wear the piece as rules around royal jewellery are gradually moving away from the formality of the past.

The Gemological Institute of America developed a grading system for diamonds, and the label Harry Winston is renowned for employing the brightest D, E, and F colour diamonds.

Harry Winston stones are renowned for their high quality and come in a variety of forms, including the traditional cushion or emerald cuts, as well as oval and pear shapes.

The former First Lady of America, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis received the largest Harry Winston engagement ring ever created.

Aristotle Onassis, a Greek-Argentine billionaire, proposed to Jacqueline with this 40.42-carat stone, one of 18 stones cut from the Lesotho III diamond.

The demand for pear-shaped diamonds has soared, especially since Hussein and Rajwa got engaged in August 2022.

The Rock, the largest pear-shaped diamond in the world and a once-in-a-lifetime discovery, measures 228.31 carats in weight.

Christie’s auction house in Geneva sold it for 21,681,000 Swiss francs last year, which equates to roughly £19million.

In Rajwa and Hussein’s official engagement photographs, the bride-to-be looked stunning wearing a white top and a bright floor-length skirt, both designed by Sara Roka.

She accessorised her look with a pair of blue Valentino slingback shoes, her pear-shaped Harry Winston engagement ring, and striking earrings that once belonged to Queen Rania, Hussein’s mother.

These earrings are from the brand Stephen Webster and are part of the Magnipheasant collection.
