Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor share the first selfie from the sets of Stree 2

After five years of the success of the horror comedy Stree, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao started shooting for the sequel on Monday.

Rajkummar Rao took to his Instagram and shared a goofy selfie with his co-star Shraddha Kapoor. In the picture, Shraddha is seen sporting a bandani dupatta while Rajkummar is in a black shirt. They are seen posing together for the camera with Rajkumar’s fingers on his lips and Shraddha’s on her cheeks. Sharing the goofy picture, Rajkummar wrote, “Kya hoga jab fir se milenge #stree aur #purush. #Stree2.”

Shraddha too took to her story, re-shared the picture, gave a funny reply, and wrote, “woh stree hai, woh (shhh… emoji) nahi karegi.” She also wrote, “Chanderi calling…Excitement rising.”

In April, Dinesh Vijan announced that Stree 2 would be released next year. During an event, the team performed a skit to reveal the release date of August 31, 2024. The cast reminisced about their previous encounter with ‘Stree’ and hoped that she wouldn’t return. However, Shraddha made a comeback, reminding everyone that she played the ghostly character and was ready to frighten Rajkumar’s Vicky once again.

Set on the backdrop of the small town of Chanderi in Madhya Pradesh. Stree tells the story of a malevolent entity ‘Stree’ who would kidnap men at night during the festive period. The movie was inspired by the popular urban legend of “Nale Ba” which gained widespread attention in Karnataka during the 1990s.
