IndiGo is staring at a prolonged legal battle with both its promoters roping in eminent lawyers. At a time when competition is intensifying, the market leader needs to quickly put its house in order. In the summer of 2019, when IndiGo promoter Rahul Bhatia asked his restaurant China Club to deliver some fresh paan alongside food at the airline’s boardroom, his intention was to take a dig at Rakesh Gangwal. Just a few days back, Bhatia’s co-promoter had publicly stated that the airline was being run like a paan ki dukaan. Miami-based Gangwal, who had shepherded IndiGo since its inception in 2005, had shot letters to the market regulator
