Rachel Riley lifts lid on Strictly stars she and husband Pasha still see

Countdown star Rachel Riley has lifted the lid on which Strictly star she and husband Pasha Kovalev are still friendly with 10 years on from competing on the BBC show together.

The 37-year-old presenter joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2013, where she met her future husband Pasha, 43, who was the professional dancer training her on the show.

The maths whizz has since spoken about the people she still sees from the series one decade on in a wider interview about KAYAK’s handy Vacay Valuator tool, which may prove to be a lifesaver for holidaymakers struggling with the cost of living crisis.

Speaking to Express.co.uk Rachel addressed whether she still keeps in touch with anyone from Strictly.

She said: “Yeah, I mean, there are plenty of people that I see out and about.

“Deborah Meaden has invited us to go and stay with her, now the girls are bigger. She’s got loads of animals at her place.”

Businesswoman Deborah, who is probably best known for appearing as an investor on the BBC’s Dragon’s Den, competed in Rachel’s series and was eliminated one week before her.

“I love Deborah Meaden,” Rachel continued. “She invests in loads of eco companies. So, she’ll send me a message every now and again like, ‘Do you need deodorant?’

“And she sent me some reusable deodorant and things like that, so I love Deborah and we can’t wait to stay with her.”

Rachel revealed she would also soon be meeting up with the contestant that came in fourth place that year with partner Brendan Cole.

“I think next week I’m going to see Sophie Ellis-Bextor as well,” Rachel recalled. “Sophie has a parenting podcast, so she’s kindly offered to lend me her nanny so I can bring the baby there and we can chat about that.

“And just other people that we see here and there,” Rachel added. “Like, lovely Vanessa Feltz!”

Rachel described how her children also got along well with the daughter of James and Ola Jordan, who previously both danced professionally on the show together between 2006 and 2013.

The pair share a three-year-old daughter named Ella, while Pasha and Rachel share daughters Maven, three, and one-year-old Noa.

“We’ve seen James and Ola and their little girl, too,” Rachel said. “We’ve bumped into them at a couple of things. So our little girls like chasing each other round, which is nice.

“But she’s definitely got the performing gene. She’s there like, ‘Hi guys’ in front of the camera while Maven’s shrugging and hiding!”

Speaking about KAYAK’s fantastic new Vacay Valuator tool, Rachel said: “Even though times are tough, people still want to get on a holiday because we value that time away.

“So people are willing to give up takeaways or nights out or alcohol or subscription services.

“You can click and say, ‘Actually, I want to go away in August. I’m willing to save up for two months and I’m willing to give up Netflix, coffee and takeaways.’

“Then it calculates exactly how much that will save you on average, and then it will show you where you can get to with flights all around Europe and beyond. It’s quite a cool tool and it’s giving you the best deals.”

Rachel is working with travel search engine KAYAK for its Vacay Valuator campaign to help people save and find the best holidays for their budget this summer. Find out more at kayak.co.uk/vacay-valuator
