Quirky trips and experiences to book this Easter
And while a standard city break might be pretty fun, it’s not the most interesting way to use your time off.
From glamping and trying a new sport (girls only!) here in the UK to heading off on a chocolatey adventure in Switzerland, we’ve come up with three more unusual getaway ideas.
Read on for quirky holiday inspiration.
Female-only surfing sessions at The Wave
If you’re a woman and want to give surfing a go but prefer to keep your beginner’s attempts in the company of other women, Bristol’s The Wave is the place for you.
Announcing its female-only sessions, the inland venue’s marketing director, Alex Lloyd, said: ‘Surfing in the UK and globally is still a predominantly male sport and we are looking at what we can do to change this.’
Initial plans are for one beginner, waikiki, intermediate and advanced lesson a month, with more to come if demand requires it.
From £60 for 90 minutes, book via The Wave.
Chocolate adventures in Switzerland
For chocoholics who take Easter eggstremely seriously, there really is only one place to go – Switzerland.
Geneva has a new Choco Pass, a themed tour and access to tastings at six chocolatiers (tickets from £4.90 children and £24.30 adults).
Zurich, meanwhile, has opened The Swiss Chocolate Hotel, with decor inspired by chocolate making (rooms from £122pn).
Persian-style glamping in Wales
For a taste of Persia in, er, Wales, head to Monmouthshire, where you can glamp in a traditional Persian ‘alachigh’ tent (similar to a yurt) on Penhein Farm.
There are eight on site, sleeping up to five people, and two even have their own ensuite showers. As spring approaches try foraging, bushcraft workshops and stargazing safaris.
And if you’re really keen to embrace country living, you can help out during their lambing season.
A two-night midweek stay starts at £295, book via Penheim Farm.
