Queensland records 22,069 new cases of Covid-19
Queensland has recorded a further 22,069 new cases of Covid-19 overnight, with 30 people in intensive care.
Queensland has recorded 22,069 new cases of Covid-19, including 3985 via rapid antigen tests.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath told reporters on Wednesday that there were 30 people in intensive care, with eight on ventilators.
She said there were 525 additional people who were Covid-positive patients in wards.
“What we’re seeing in our hospitalisation rates right now and in intensive care reflects our vaccination rates, and I want to thank everyone who continues to come out and get vaccinated,” she said.
“We know this has helped slow down the number of people coming into our hospital system and needing ICU.
“We know boosters are important and we know that over 50 per cent of the eligible population who are able to get the boosters haven’t got their boosters yet.”
Chief health officer John Gerrard said the hospital numbers were still small thanks to people getting vaccinated.
“If you are unvaccinated, you are nine times more likely to end up in a Queensland hospital then if you are triple-vaxxed,” he said.
Queensland has a double dose vaccination rate of 88.02 per cent.
