Queen Mathilde of Belgium and daughters are a vision for their National Day
Senior members of the Belgian Royal Family attended a customary church service today dressed in the colours of their nation’s flag to commemorate National Day.
In pillar-box red for the patriotic event, Queen Mathilde was a vision. As she arrived at the Te Deum service in the Brussels Cathedral of St Michael and St Gudula, the 50-year-old monarch posed like a pro.
The mother-of-three wore a red long-sleeve dress designed by Natan Couture, which was long sleeves and knee-length.
Mathilde accessorised stylishly with Natan Couture PVC D’Orsay red suede pumps, leather red gloves, a £511 Maison Fabienne Delvigne “Colette” red clutch bag, and a wide-brimmed “Vinity” hat in red also from Maison Fabienne Delvigne.
The clutch bag, which is available to buy, has the following description: “This clutch bag has a large removable handle, to be carried in the hand or on the shoulder.
“This clutch is adaptable by its colours, dimensions and materials to match your evening outfits. Available in red and pink.”
Alongside Queen Mathilde was her 21-year-old daughter, Princess Elisabeth, who wore a bright yellow fit-and-flare dress from the AW23 Collection of Natan Couture as a nod to the Belgian flag.
For the formal event, the Princess, also known as the Duchess of Brabant, wore an enormous straw hat from Maison Fabienne Delvigne and a £303 Natan Couture beige clutch bag that matched.
The “Desert Wind” hat’s description says: “It’s a giant capeline in Panama, the tone is biscuit, burnt bread which gives it its very desert side. It is adorned with two feathers which give it all its lightness.”
In addition, the GR 120 bag has the following description: “The Natan brand belongs to our Belgian pride.
“The house was founded in the 1930s as Maison Paul Natan. Designer Edouard Vermeulen ensures that our Royal Family has been peaking for years. With Natan shoes, you complete any outfit.”
The youngest daughter of Queen Mathilde and King Philippe, Princess Eleonore, 15, chose understated glamour in a glittering gold tiered dress (the yellow of the Belgian flag is frequently depicted as gold) and loosely pulled back blonde hair.
The £429 dress was from Maje Paris and is known as the “Ruffled Lamé Dress In Gold”.
Its description says: “A true Maje must-have, this signature midi dress returns this season in a new dark green shade.
“Ideal for a special occasion, a celebration or an evening, it adopts a sparkling material that will make you shine and can be easily accessorized according to your desires: laced sandals, clutch in your hand or golden jewellery.
“Featuring a wrap-over V-neck, loose short sleeves and a ruffled skirt, this dress in shimmering lamé material reveals a delicately smocked waist that enhances the silhouette.”
Belgium’s National Day commemorates both the official founding of the Kingdom and their 1831 split from The Netherlands.
