Punjab schools to reopen tomorrow, govt. issues instructions – Times of India
The Punjab Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains today tweeted that all schools in Punjab will open as usual from tomorrow, July 17, 2023. Incessant rain in Punjab and neighboring states created a flood-like situation in the state which prompted the government to close schools for the safety of the students and staff. The AAP lead Punjab Government initially ordered school closure in the state from July 11 to 13, however, the flood-like situation forced the government to extend school holidays till July 16, 2023.
Bains has also ordered the concerned authorities to check all the safety parameters before reopening the schools. “All the Deputy Commissioners of the State are directed to ensure that the premises of Government/Aid/Recognised and Private schools in coordination with the Panchayat, Education, Local Government, Irrigation, Public Works or other Departments are safe for children,” he Tweeted.
However, if any school or locality is still flooded or any school building is damaged, the Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts can declare a holiday only in those schools.
