Punjab schools closed: Winter holiday in schools extended due to cold till January 14 – Times of India

NEW DELHI: In view of the extreme cold wave conditions across the northern part of India, the Government of Punjab has yet again announced to extend the state school holidays. Earlier, Punjab schools were scheduled to reopen from January 09, 2023 however after the extension of winter holidays, the schools in Punjab will now reopen on January 14, 2023.
Students and parents may please note that this extension has been announced only for students of Class 1st to 7th of all government, aided, recognized and private schools in Punjab.
Regular classes for students of Class 8th to 12th will be conducted as per the schedule from Monday, January 09, 2023. Teachers of primary, middle and secondary classes will remain present in schools from January 9, 2023 onwards.
What are Punjab school timings for Class 8 to 12?
Considering the cold waves, the school timing in Punjab has been changed and the classes will be conducted from 10 AM to 3 PM from January 09, 2023.
Punjab School Education Minister Punjab Harjot Singh Bains took to his Twitter handle on Friday to announce the extension of holidays. “Students of classes 1 to 7 in government, aided, recognized and private schools of Punjab are on holiday till January 14. Students from 8th to 12th and teachers of primary/secondary departments will be present in the schools. The timing of schools will be from 10 am to 3 pm,” Bains tweeted.
