Punjab govt to send 36 school principals to Singapore for teachers’ training – Times of India

CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday announced that the first batch of 36 school principals will visit Singapore to sharpen their professional skills. He said that with this, the AAP government will fulfil its pre-poll ‘guarantee’ given to people in the state.
During an online interaction, Mann said that in the run up of the assembly polls, his party had promised that the education system would be completely transformed in the state. He said that the first batch of 36 government school principals will be going to Singapore on February 4 for professional training.
The chief minister said that these principals will be participating in a professional teachers’ training seminar from February 6-10. He said that this first batch will return back on February 11 after the completion of the seminar. Mann said that lakhs of students from across the state would be benefitted from this revolutionary step as with additional expertise from Singapore these principals will upgrade the level of education being imparted in the state.
On their return, said Mann, these principals will share their experience with their colleagues and students. He said that it will help in further upscaling the expertise and professional ability of the teachers to impart quality education to students.
The Punjab government had last year announced that it will send a group of school principals to the Principal’s Academy in Singapore and to the National Institute of Education for getting specialised training.
