PS VR2 controller charging dock may cause damage to your controllers

A PS VR2 owner has reported that the official charging dock has caused damage to their controllers.

The controller charging dock was bought alongside the PS VR2 headset, which comes with two controllers.

Sony has created unique controllers that work with its latest virtual reality headset.

The two orb-shaped controllers work as one, with half of the usual controller’s buttons on each side.

Many games for the PS VR2 can be played with the PS5 DualSense controller, or do not require a controller.

However, some games specifically require the PS VR2 Sense controllers in order to play them.

One user on Reddit reported that when they placed the controllers in the dock to charge, they began to overheat.

On returning to the controllers later, the area around the port had melted and disfigured.

The owner tried to contact Sony about the issue but did not get a response.

They then returned their purchases, which included the controllers, dock and headset, to the retailer they purchased it from.

The retailer offered a replacement for the PS VR2 headset and controllers, and a refund for the charging dock.

They were offered a replacement for the charging dock but said they “didn’t want to risk it again until we learn more about this issue from Sony.”

This is the only recorded instance of the issue, and it could be a single faulty dock.

As a newly released headset, only time will tell if the issue is more widespread.
