‘Proud moment’ as half of A-level students score A* to As at 125-year-old school

Students at The King Alfred School, in North End Road, Golders Green, were delighted when discovering their results yesterday (August 17).

The school boasted that 50 per cent of all grades were at A* to A, and 90 per cent of grades were A* to C.

With 81 per cent of students progressing to their university of choice, the school felt it was a fitting moment as it celebrated its watershed birthday earlier this year.

Eleanor, a student who achieved two A* and one A grade, said: “I got my predicted grades, which is amazing and I wasn’t expecting.

“I’m off to Royal Holloway University to study psychology and I feel so happy”

Ben Reed was beaming as he picked up his envelope. He said: “I am really, really happy, I did a lot better than I anticipated – I got an A in English! I am off to York to study politics and international relations.

“King Alfred School has helped me so much, I’m a lot more confident than I was because there are so many amazing people here.”

The school said the Year 13 results were a reflection of the “hard work and dedication”, adding that this was their first experience of exams since having their GCSEs disrupted by the pandemic.

Head Robert Lobatto said “These results are a testament to the commitment and passion the students have shown to their studies and I look forward to seeing what they all do next.

“Alongside their grades, KAS students are rightly proud of their independence, resilience and community spirit and I know that they will carry these qualities with them wherever they choose to go in life.”
