There was a brief interruption during the Premiership final between Saracens and Sale at Twickenham on Saturday afternoon as Just Stop Oil protesters ran onto the pitch.
The familiar orange powder was brought onto the field by two protesters as the match was paused for a bit while they were dealt with.
It was not a lengthy issue as they were tackled and removed pretty quickly to loud cheers from the crowd.
The protest occurred 21 minutes into the game with the score at 6-6 and the match was back underway very shortly after, with the remnants of the orange powder left on the grass.
Remarkably, Saracens scored a try straight from the restart, with Sale possibly losing concentration due to the disruption.
Just Stop Oil tweeted: ‘TIME TO TACKLE THE CLIMATE CRISIS. Two supporters of Just Stop Oil took to the field in today’s rugby premiership final. We will continue to take disruptive action until this government stops new fossil fuels.’
The t-shirts and matching orange powder were reminiscent of the protest which caused huge disruption at the Crucible in Sheffield during the World Snooker Championship last month.
A protester from the same group jumped onto the table during the first round match between Joe Perry and Robert Milkins, launching powder over the baize.
Another protester tried to repeat the act on the other table but was stopped and dragged away before she could.
The damage to the snooker table was far worse than that on the rugby pitch, with no play able on the Perry vs Milkins table as it needed to be re-clothed overnight.
