Princess Beatrice’s royal birth not as expensive as Meghan Markle’s – costing £10k
Royal births are always a lavish affair and take place in some of the grandest hospitals in the country, which also incurs a bill. Pregnancy and childbirth experts at CFAH looked into the most expensive royal birth packages, across hospitals in the UK and US, in order to rank them in order of expense. After conducting the research, Meghan Markle was found to have had the most expensive royal birth, costing £10,000.
Meghan Markle gave birth to her first child, Archie, at the exclusive Portland Hospital, which is also the maternity ward where Sarah Ferguson gave birth to her daughters.
With five-star catering, brilliant facilities, the undivided attention of a consultant and silver hand-crafted baby mementoes, this can set parents back at least £10,000.
Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital is a Spanish themed hospital in California, where Meghan and Harry welcomed their second child, Lilibet.
With birth packages costing up to £20,000, this is not a cheap option and looks more like a hotel than a hospital. A natural birth costs £10,000 while a Caesarean section is £20,000.

Sophie Countess of Wessex had the least expensive royal birth in a free NHS hospital, according to the research. The Countess’s daughter, Lady Louise Windsor, was premature and she had to undergo an emergency c-section at the NHS funded hospital, Frimley Park in Camberley.
Sophie opted to have her second child, James, Viscount Severn, at the hospital too, and in 2014, she made an emotional visit back to the NHS hospital where she was honoured to open its new neonatal unit.
