Princess Beatrice & Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi romantic backstory – how soon-to-be parents met
Princess Beatrice, who celebrated her 33rd birthday on Sunday, got married in a more private ceremony in Windsor due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Their marriage comes after they have known each other for a number of years. Edoardo’s step-father Christopher Shale, who passed away at the Glastonbury music festival in 2011, was close friends with Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
Later that month, on St. Patrick’s Day, they were spotted holding hands in New York City.
In July, photographers captured them walking into the exclusive Annabel’s Member’s Club in London.
Beatrice was seen wearing a bracelet with Edoardo’s initials on it.
In late August, the Princess and the businessman were photographed at Ellie Goulding’s wedding alongside Princess Eugenie and Sarah Ferguson.

In June of 2019, Edoardo accompanied Beatrice at an event at St. James’s Palace.
Together, they spoke with guests during an event hosted by Prince Andrew.
Earlier in the season, Edoardo joined Beatrice and her mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, at the wedding of Ella Windsor to Thomas Kingston.
A royal source told The Sun in 2019: “Beatrice and Edoardo have the same circle of friends and were introduced through a mutual chum.
“They hit it off instantly and have a real laugh together.
“They’ve been on holiday together and Beatrice introduced him to Fergie and her dad.
“Things are moving very quickly and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they got engaged within a short period of time.”
Edoardo finally proposed to Beatrice during a trip to Italy in September of 2019.
“We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married,” the couple said in an official announcement.
“We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
Edoardo then accompanied Beatrice on the Royal Family’s Christmas Day walk to church at Sandringham for the first time in December 2019.
Only members of the Royal Family are allowed to join in this Christmas tradition, a morning stroll to the chapel on Sandringham Estate.
But once Edoardo was officially engaged to Princess Beatrice, he was permitted to make his first-ever appearance as a member of the Royal Family.
Unfortunately, Princess Beatrice’s plans for her wedding had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
But they eventually tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Windsor on July 17, 2020.
