Prince William to lead Queen’s death anniversary tribute as Harry jets to UK
The one-year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s death is dawning.
While Prince William and Kate Middleton will be taking part in a special tribute to her next month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be joining them.
Harry and Markle, 42, were reportedly not invited to join the clan.
But the Duke of Sussex, 38, will return to the United Kingdom soon — to attend the annual WellChild charity event on Sept. 7.
On Sept. 8, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 41, will be visiting St David’s Cathedral in South Wales to host a memorial for his late grandmother.
The sovereign died last September at 96 following seven decades on the throne.
An insider told to the Mirror that William will “pay homage to the life and legacy of Elizabeth II, but any message will strongly look to the future.”
“It will be an emotional day for all the Royal Family, as well as many people across Britain, recognizing this date. But of course, for others it will be just another day and life goes on,” the source continued.
Other members of the Firm such as Prince Andrew, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, William, Middleton, Queen Camilla, Prince Edward and King Charles will be commemorating the anniversary of the Queen’s passing at their summer residence at Balmoral Castle.
Meanwhile, Harry will reportedly not be seeing any members of his family as he passes through the UK.
Shortly after his layover in his homeland, Harry will jet off Dusseldorf, Germany on Sept. 9 to launch his Invictus Games. His wife is slated to meet him in Europe for the sports games. The event is set to run until Sept. 16.
Several sources claimed to the Sun that the couple received no “outreach” from senior members of the royal family to attend any memorial for the Queen.
“If they are not included in any of those plans they will find a way to mark the significance in their own way,” an insider revealed.
Harry and William have had a contentious feud between them for some time now, a brawl that was weighted when the former army man dropped his memoir “Spare” this past January.
A source believed that the feud was another cause of the Sussexes’ lack of invite to Balmoral.
“You can read the room on that as to where things are [between them],” the insider said, adding Harry and William have not contacted each other.
The last time the Invictus Games founder was with his family, was back in May at Charles’ coronation. Harry sat several rows behind his older brother and rapidly left England as soon as the ceremony concluded.
