Prince William appears to comfort ‘upset’ Princess Kate in ‘cute’ couple moment

A “cute” royal moment has resurfaced and gone viral on social media as it appears to show Prince William trying to cheer up Princess Kate. Both Kate and William attended the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth in June 2022, when the monarch celebrated over 70 years on the throne before she passed away three months later at the age of 96.

The couple attended a service held at St Paul’s Cathedral during the host of Jubilee weekend events. At one point in the service, Kate appeared to hold her head down while looking at the floor and not smiling, leading some royal fans to believe she was upset.

One TikTok user has uploaded the moment in a popular edited video, and the text on the footage reads: “Kate doesn’t seem happy…William comforts her.”

The video then shows William turning to quietly speak to Kate, which has led many to believe the Prince of Wales was trying to quietly cheer Kate up. The TikTok user who edited the video wrote: “[William] seems so worried about how Kate felt, it’s so cute, I love them.”

The video was uploaded one day ago and has over 300,000 views, as many royal watchers have rushed to the comment section to praise the “sweet” moment.

One user said: “Aww William making sure Catherine is okay! Bless.” Another person wrote: “Princess Catherine looks so scared! I felt so sorry for her, they’re so sweet.”

A third commentator added: “How can she look so gorgeous while so sad?” Someone else wrote: “What’s sad is I’ve never seen her look this upset in public outside of funerals.”

It is unknown why the Princess of Wales appeared to look glum in the video. Some users have pointed out that this Jubilee event was the first time both Kate and William met with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after their personal interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which the Sussexes spoke about finding life within the British Royal family difficult.

However, some users argued that the pressures on such a grand and historic occasion may be another reason the Princess appeared to look sombre. One user said: “Humans can’t smile 24 hours a day, [Kate] had a lot going on during the Jubilee” while another person said: “I wouldn’t like to be a royal and expected to look happy all the time.”

No matter the reason, many royal fans praised Kate and William as a couple. One fan wrote: “This seems like a wonderful pair, this was a cute moment” while someone else wrote: “I love them together, so comforting.”

This viral resurfaced moment as both Kate and William have been spotted showing their romantic side this last week. The couple shared a rare moment of public affection when they were seen kissing and embracing during a polo charity match, in which William’s team won.

Body language expert Darren Stanton has said it showed how “real their connection is.” He explained: “Kate’s smile as William kissed her on the cheek was complete passion from her side. He makes her light up.

“The arm squeeze is also very telling of their relationship. You don’t let just anyone hug you or hold you like that. Hugs like that are from those who know you inside and out.”

Both Kate and William were also seen recently expressing affection during King Charles’ Scottish Coronation, in which it appeared the Princess was “patting her husband’s bum” during the ceremony.

Judi James explained: “Kate and William looked utterly professional although there were moments when their signature traits of chatting and tactile behaviour emerged.”

She added that the moment “seems to be a loving tie-sign for Kate, showing support and almost maternal reassurance and attention as well as being a truncated gesture of intimate affection.”
