Press swarm Elizabeth Debicki’s Princess Diana amid The Crown season 5 filming
In season 5 of the historical drama, The Great Gatsby star is taking over the role of the late Princess of Wales from Emma Corrin, who played the royal in the fourth instalment.
In new set photos, Elizabeth, 31, is the spitting image of Diana, wearing a camel coat, a cream polo neck top and a checkered jacket as she deals with extreme media attention in the streets of London.
In the pictures, the actress can be seen in character walking away from the front door of a property, looking down as members of the media surround her.
In a couple of particularly intense images, she was captured making her way to a car while reporters and photographers shouted at her, maintaining her composure as she seemingly ignored their exclamations.
In a behind-the-scenes shot, Elizabeth spoke to a member of the crew, who was wearing a black hoodie and an earpiece.
The new episodes will provide an insight into the ongoing media scrutiny Diana faced in the years leading up to her death.
The royal died on 31 August 1997 from injuries she sustained in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris, France.
Earlier this month, Elizabeth was seen filming a scene depicting Diana’s last public appearance before her death.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star recreated the moment the princess – in her capacity as Patron of the English National Ballet – attended a Royal Gala performance of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake at London’s Royal Albert Hall on June 3,1997.
Members of the cast joining Elizabeth in the cast of The Crown season five will include Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Dominic West as Prince Charles, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret.
Olivia Williams will be playing Camilla Parker-Bowles, while Jonny Lee Miller has taken on the role of John Major.
The upcoming episodes will take the tale into the early to mid-1990s, and is expected to portray Diana and Charles’ separation, their divorce and the death of the Princess of Wales.
The show will be coming to end with its sixth and final season.
The Crown is available to watch on Netflix.
