Premier League predicted final table with Chelsea 12th as Man Utd go backwards

Despite only being four games into the new campaign Manchester City have already stamped their authority on the league – scoring 11 games and winning each match. Opta have given City a 91 per cent chance of winning the title for a fourth consecutive season.

After a disappointing fifth-placed finish last season Liverpool are hoping for an improved campaign, despite losing some senior figures this summer. However, a dramatic fightback to beat Newcastle followed by a 3-0 win over Aston Villa has boosted morale and sees them given a predicted to secure a second-placed finish.

Arsenal pushed City all the way for the league title last season but are predicted to end up third this campaign. Under new manager Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are then forecasted to improve on their eighth-placed finish last season to earn Champions League football with fourth this campaign.

Erik ten Hag has spent big again this summer bringing in the likes of striker Rasmus Hojlund along with Mason Mount and Andre Onana. However, Opta predict that United will go backwards this season with a fifth-place finish after placing third last season.

Brighton are forecasted to complete the top six positions ahead of Newcastle United, after beating them 3-1 before the international break. West Ham, Aston Villa, Brentford and Crystal Palace complete the top 11.
