Power Rangers Just Made a Shocking Revelation About…Earth’s Moon?!

The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers reveals the original location of the Bandora Palace, and the truth of its history changes everything.

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Mighty Morphin #10, available now from Boom! Studios.

The Power Rangers are quickly approaching the greatest confrontation of their lives on two different fronts, and nothing could prepare them for how bad things are about to get, especially thanks to their longtime nemesis Lord Zedd.

As the secret history of the Rangers and the Guardians of Eltar — their mentor Zordon’s alien team– has unfolded, Lord Zedd has just revealed a dramatic new chapter in the history of Earth’s Moon.

Over 10,000 years ago the Guardians of Eltar stumbled upon the fabled Zeo Crystal being protected by an ancient race of monks. The Zeo Crystal is easily the most powerful weapon that the Guardians could employ in their war against Dark Specter. But, with no way to tell what the ultimate outcome of doing so might be, they are left waiting for the Council of Eltar to offer some guidance. Unfortunately, the Council’s indecisiveness only makes matters worse, and after Zordon is nearly killed protecting the artifact Zophram takes matters into his own hands. The Supreme Guardian storms into Bandora Palace and attempts to claim the Zeo Crystal for himself only to set off a trigger that wipes out all life surrounding it on Earth’s Moon.

As seen previously, Silver Guardian Zartus convinced one of the monks protecting the Zeo Crystal to help him enchant it with the Flame of Truth, and now readers have gotten to see just what that looks like in action. When Zophram touches his prize, a massive explosion erupts from it. Not only does this reduce Zophram to an unrecognizable state, it sweeps over the surrounding area. In doing so, it reveals that the Crystal was housed in Bandora Palace, the then-home of the Zeo Crystal and iconic headquarters of Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd, which has always been on the Moon. This scene suggests that the Moon was once a thriving jungle planet covered in lush flora and inhabited by fantastical reptilian fauna. But in a moment, nothing was left standing on the Moon’s surface save for Bandora Palace, now the lone monument in a landscape that has become abruptly barren.

This all recasts the history of the Solar System in a stunning new light, though it also has some interesting implications for the greater Power Rangers mythos. Bandora Palace itself has been given the most expanded origin it has seen so far in the franchise, which has become a running theme throughout the Boom! Studios incarnation of the franchise. Whether or not this means there are any other secrets left on the moon for the Rangers to find is yet to be seen, although with how many have recently been uncovered lately it is getting hard to keep up.
