Power Rangers Brings a Brand New Alien Team Into the Mighty Morphin Universe
The Power Rangers are about to attempt a rescue, and to help them, the Supreme Guardian has teamed them up with a new team of interstellar heroes.
WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Mighty Morphin #11, available now from Boom! Studios.
The Power Rangers are about to enter what might be their most important battle yet, but unfortunately, they’re desperately unprepared. While they grapple with the betrayals and uncertainties that have come to plague the team every single day, the shadow of Dark Specter and his empire looms high overhead. And to top things off, one of their own allies has fallen into the clutches of Lord Zedd.
Thankfully, the Guardians of Eltar have come to lend a hand in the fight with the Sentry Force Four in Mighty Morphin #11, by Ryan Parrot, Marco Renna, Walter Baiamonte, Sara Antonellini, Katia Ranalli and Ed Dukeshire. R
It wasn’t all that long ago that the Rangers’ hometown of Angel Grove was itself under Lord Zedd’s control, and the heroes didn’t stand a chance of saving it on their own. Luckily, they had the Bronze Guardian of Eltar on their side in the form of Zelya. After having come to Earth to investigate it, Zelya made her presence known to the Rangers when they needed it most, but in the process of saving Angel Grove, she became a prisoner of Lord Zedd herself. Zordon has been hard at work figuring out just how to rescue their new ally, though once again the heroes aren’t going in alone. Zophram, the Supreme Guardian, has come bearing a gift in the form of the Sentry Force Four, Eltar’s more public agents than the Guardians themselves. Not only are each of these warriors outfitted in much the same sort of armor as the Rangers, but they have all brought something a little extra special to the table as well.
While the two teams get to know one another, the members of Sentry Force Four get to show off a little bit of what they can do. Zag might have the most incredible specialty in his ability to teleport short distances, something that he has turned into as much of an offensive capability as it is a tactic for moving unseen. Zero Zero, the largest member of the team, reveals themselves to in fact be the most diminutive when their menacing, mechanized suit opens up to reveal the talkative child within it. From the looks of things, Zag and Zero Zero make up the more social half of the team, as the high-flying Zenith decides against coming down for a chat with Kimberly by informing the Pink Ranger that she hasn’t actually set foot on the ground in years. All the while, Rocky does his best to get to know Zeta, the apparent leader of the group, without much success. Even if they aren’t especially willing to open up and make connections with the Rangers, every member of Sentry Force Four is clearly able to take care of themselves, and it doesn’t look like they will have any trouble saving Zelya from Lord Zedd.
It has already been made clear that Zartus does not have the best of intentions, and the fact that he was the one to summon the Empyreals could even make him a worse threat than Lord Zedd at this point. That he has Sentry Force Four on his side isn’t surprising at all, but whether or not they know of the Supreme Guardian’s true intentions will be the deciding factor in what role they end up playing in the battles to come. If the Power Rangers do come to blows with this stunning new team, at least they have some idea of what to expect from them on the battlefield.
