Port gun still in hospital with scary condition

Reigning Brownlow medallist Ollie Wines remains in hospital following Port Adelaide’s dismal 32-point loss to Melbourne at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night.

Wines was withdrawn from the match at the main break after experiencing nausea, as Port Adelaide slumped to its lowest half-time total in history.

The 27-year-old midfielder was taken to hospital after the match, before the club revealed on Friday that he had been diagnosed with a heart irregularity.

“He is currently still in hospital with a heart irregularity, the cause of which is undetermined and will be investigated over the coming days,” a club statement reads

“Wines remains well and in good spirits.”

Adding to Port’s woes as it fell to 0-4 this season, the club also confirmed ruckman Scott Lycett had dislocated his shoulder in a contest with Melbourne captain Max Gawn.

Lycett’s condition will be monitored over the coming days.
