Poland’s tallest man and his shorter pal have formed an unlikely friendship

They say opposites attract, and that’s definitely the case for best pals, Marcel Rozek and Maciek Jarema.

Marcel, a former basketball player, is the tallest man in Poland at 2.22 metres (or 7ft 2in) tall. 

His bestie, Mixed Martial Artist Maciek, also known as Big Jack, is nearly half his size, at 1.32 metres (4ft 3in). 

While their heights have been a bit of an issue — especially when trying to find t-shirts that fit — the pair say their friendship helps them deal with, and even appreciate their statures.

‘I never considered what an advantage it was being able to get stuff from the top shelf, and you get a great view of concerts,’ said Marcel, who suffers from Marfan Syndrome, which affects the body’s connective tissue and, in serious cases, can lead to heart problems.

Maciek also sees the silver lining: ‘The bed is never too small for me, and there is always space for me on the sofa,’ he said. (Though it’s true the pair of them have to buy custom furniture). 

For the two sportsmen, their opposing heights make for the perfect friendship, with Marcel reaching things from the fridge for his pal, and Maciek there to pick things up that have dropped off on the floor or under furniture.
