MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Volleyball Federation has its eyes set on the 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championship and president Ramon “Tats” Suzara already has a blueprint in mind.

Shortly after announcing the federation’s bid for hosting the international tournament two years from now, Suzara also said the PNVF plans to build a “Women’s Dream Team” that would compete in the world championships.

“I want to call it the ‘Women’s Dream Team’ for the World Championship 2025. I want them to really focus and get big support traveling from 2024 to 2025,” bared Suzara in a press conference at Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday.

The team’s composition, however, is still unsure at this point.

Suzara said he wants the squad to be headlined by collegiate players but did not discount the possibility of securing the services of professional players as well.

“We had a meeting with the national team coaches and some university representatives and my objective is to have a university-based team so it doesn’t go against the PVL’s schedule,” said Suzara.

“Of course, we welcome (pro players) if they are ready to support but the problem is the calendar. If I have all-collegiate players, after the UAAP they can start traveling and that’s the cooperation we want to have.”

Suzara also did not disclose any names that could potentially be included on the team.

National University coach Norman Miguel, though, informed the Inquirer that eight of his players are already being scouted by the federation.

“The NU management gave its blessings of allowing the players to participate,” said Miguel, who refused to divulge the names.

The world championship will take place from August to September.
