PlayStation 5 New Model to Sport 5nm APU, No Liquid Metal Cooling – Rumor

The rumored new PlayStation 5 model is set to run much cooler than the current models and won’t require liquid metal cooling, according to rumors circulating online.

Zuby_Tech, who shared videos of Sony’s Project Q handheld last week, revealed that the new hardware revision, the CFI-1300 series, will sport a 5nm APU which shouldn’t produce as much heat as the 7nm of the launch models, and the 6nm of the CFI-1202 series. As such, the console will not feature liquid metal cooling.

While we have to take what was revealed about the new PlayStation 5 model with a grain of salt, the information sounds believable, considering what we currently know about the yet-to-be-announced hardware revision. As Sony improved efficiency with the CFI-1202 models, it makes sense to bring things a step further with the new model, which the Japanese company will supposedly market as an improved model. The new console is rumored to be compatible with a detachable disc drive and won’t be much smaller than the current models.
