Pixie Lott emotional as The Voice Kids star, 10, covers her wedding song
‘Twas an emotional time for Pixie Lott on the latest episode of The Voice Kids as one auditionee surprised her with a very special song.
The Mama Do hitmaker, 32, was stunned when Abigail, 10, covered Bryan Adams’ (Everything I Do) I Do It for You, which she danced to at her wedding to husband Oliver Cheshire, 35.
Pixie and Oliver recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary, having tied the knot in a gorgeous ceremony at Ely Cathedral last June following an initial delay due to Covid.
They’re also now expecting their first baby together!
As Abigail took to the stage during the blind audition, she wowed judges Pixie, Danny Jones, Ronan Keating, and will.i.am with her angelic vocals to the well-loved tune.
She initially chose the track because she enjoys listening to ‘old songs’ with her grandparents, saying this one in particular reminded her of her nan and grandad.
But little did she know that the song would have a deeper meaning for one of the coaches.
After being left amazed by the performance and as her family sobbed with pride in the wings, Pixie told the young singer from Hartlepool: ‘That song was actually the first dance at my wedding!
‘So, thank you so much for singing that and you did it so beautifully.’
She added: ‘You’re at the age when you can take on things and we can work together and I just want to help you be the best that you can be.’
Ronan and Danny also turned in their chairs, putting their own pitches forwards.
Boyzone star Ronan praised her ‘beautiful’ vocals and how she made the song ‘her own’.
Danny then praised her ‘control’ and ’emotion’ and said it would be an ‘honour’ to have her on his team.
Ultimately, it was Danny who was victorious as Abigail chose him as her mentor.
But, what followed was a truly magical moment.
Speaking to her fellow judges, a smiley Pixie recalled: ‘That was my first dance at my wedding. That song gives me all the feels.
‘It makes me cry!’
She added that co-star Danny was also at her wedding and treated guests to his own cover of Summer Of ’69.
‘It brought the house down!’, Pixie said.
So, it was only right that the McFly star sang it again, right?
Grabbing a microphone and his guitar, he duetted with Pixie on the classic rock tune, getting the audience on their feet.
Taking to Twitter following Abigail’s audition, one viewer predicted that the budding recording artist will ‘go places’.
‘Really well sung Abigail. She left everything on the stage & did herself proud’, another tweeted.
‘Wow 10-year-old Abigail singing Everything I Do By Bryan Adams for her grandparents is all kinds of beautiful’, said another.
The Voice Kids continues next Saturday on ITV1 and ITVX.
