Pip Edward wears bold ‘G-string pants’ to party in LA

The Sydney socialite was spotted on a dancefloor in LA wearing a pair of unusual $900 pants while clutching a glass of champagne.

If you were hoping the exposed G-string trend was going to pass by unnoticed, I’m afraid we have bad news.

Just days after Erin Molan posed in a “G-string dress”, socialite and activewear designer Pip Edwards has posed in a pair of “Y-front” pants that embrace the bold trend.

Originally popular in the noughties when pop stars such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera made it cool to flash your undies, the fashion trend had a bit of a comeback late last year.

While the style has developed slightly, preferring to give the illusion of having your G-string on show without actually flashing your knickers, it still has that ’90s popstar vibe to it.

Pip rocked the fashionable look at a party for her activewear brand P.E. Nation wearing a pair of $890 Dion Lee pants with cut outs on the hip.

The 41-year-old – who is rumoured to have reunited with former cricket captain Michael Clarke – oozed confidence in the racy design, celebrating her new collection with a star-studded bash in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

She styled the eye-catching pants with a black, white and beige crop top, keeping her accessories simple with a gold chunky chain and clear heels you could barely see under the pants.

The mum-of-one appeared to be in high spirits, dancing on her own on the dancefloor, clutching a glass of champagne in her hand.

It’s not clear if her enthusiasm levels were because travel restrictions have only just lifted, permitting Pip to attend her own bash or the brand’s latest swim collection. Either way, she was definitely happy to be there.

Since arriving in LA last week, the designer has been on an Instagram spree, posting excited photos from the celebrity hot spot including “Runyon”, shopping and out for business meetings at fancy restaurants.

“Give me that LA sun any day,” she captioned a snap taken on the iconic Venice Beach.

“PE head-to-toe when doing business…,” she explained of her outfit in another.

On Sunday, Erin Molan graced the front of Stellar magazine in a backless dress by LA-based designer AYA Muse.

The fitted black frock featured long-sleeves and a strap that rested on one hip, giving the appearance the 39-year old was wearing a visible G-string.

Erin and Pip are the latest familiar faces who have been photographed wearing the risque design.

A Sydney influencer recently shared a video trying on a pair of G-string pants, describing them as “crazy” and “the most offensive thing to fashion”.
