Piers Morgan slams Hancock’s claim he’s not doing I’m A Celeb for cash
Piers Morgan, 57, blasted Matt Hancock in a furious post after the former Health Secretary agreed to take part in the ITV reality series I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! The MP for West Suffolk touched down in Brisbane, Australia on Tuesday night ahead of his stint on the popular series.
The Uncensored presenter has since taken to social media and hit out at Matt’s claim he is not taking part in the programme for money.
Piers has also called for the former Health Secretary to “resign” with immediate effect.
It comes after Matt spoke out in his column where he addressed his reason behind going into the jungle and assured the public it was not for cash but to enlighten the nation.
As someone living with dyslexia, he explained he wanted to bring awareness to the issue.

Writing in The Sun, Matt wrote: “And no, it wasn’t the cheque that changed my mind. I will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and causes supporting dyslexia off the back of my appearance.
“I will, of course, also declare the amount I receive from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal.”
Taking to Twitter, Piers reacted to Matt’s confirmation tweet about joining the I’m A Celebrity lineup.
It read: “Next week, I’m going into the jungle, as part of this year’s @imacelebrity.”
To Hell With PC tweeted: “Hey @piersmorgan is this person not entitled to a personal time off?”
Alan Hardy penned: “He’s a political irrelevance right now so why not give us all some brilliant entertainment instead? An absolute casting masterstroke by @ITV #ImACeleb.”
Topcat argued: “Isn’t he giving the money to charity?”
Others agreed with Piers, as Tommy said: “Wow, a Piers Morgan tweet that I agree with. If this continues, either he’s changed or I need help.”
Cookie fumed: “No one should even watch it. It’s disgraceful and so out of touch that itv even approached him. The whole thing stinks. The guy needs removing from his job.”
Barry joked: “The only way you can end this properly is by going in after him.”
Matt has defended his decision to appear on I’m A Celebrity – saying the TV show is a “powerful tool” to reach young people.
He said politicians must “go where the people are” and not “sit in ivory towers in Westminster”.
“I haven’t lost my marbles or had one too many pina coladas,” he wrote in the same publication.
His decision to appear on the reality series did not go down well with his fellow MPs amid Britain’s ongoing cost of living crisis.
He has since been suspended as a Conservative MP after party managers took a dim view of his reality show debut.
Simon Hart, the Conservative chief whip, said the West Suffolk MP’s decision to take part in the ITV show while Parliament was sitting was “serious enough” to warrant the suspension but he remains an independent MP on full pay.
Rishi Sunak’s official spokesman also said the prime minister believes “MPs should be working hard for their constituents, whether that is in the House or in their constituency”.
