Piers Morgan says Prince Harry ‘got what he deserved’ at Coronation

Piers Morgan, 58, launched a fresh attack on Prince Harry following his brief return to the UK for his father, King Charles’s Coronation. In Westminster Abbey, Harry was seated in the third row along with Prince Andrew, Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice and their husbands.

The seating arrangement meant he was sitting directly behind Princess Anne, and at times was comically blocked by the giant red feather on her hat.

The unintentional “blocking” amused many, including Harry’s biggest critic, Piers.

Writing in his new column, the TalkTV star jibed: “He got exactly what he deserved: stuck behind the large red feather plume on Anne’s hat, just as Meghan was hidden behind a candle at the Queen’s funeral,” he wrote for The Sun.

Harry left the Abbey almost as soon as the ceremony ended and headed to the airport to fly back to Los Angeles.

He did not appear with the rest of his family on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the big finale.

It is thought that Harry’s swift exit was so he could be back in California for his son Archie’s fourth birthday.

Piers went on in his column: “Harry is not just persona non grata, he’s also become his own worst nightmare, an utter irrelevance.

“The sad truth for him is that for all his attention-seeking antics before, during and after the Coronation, nobody really cared whether he was there or not.

“The world’s eyes were on his father the King, his stepmother, the Queen, and his brother, the next King, his sister-in-law, the next Queen, and their delightful young children.”

On Monday, Buckingham Palace shared the first official portrait of the King marking his Coronation.

The images, by Hugo Burnand, showed the monarch seated in his full regalia – wearing the Imperial State Crown, holding the Orb and Sceptre with Cross, and dressed in his regal purple tunic and Robe of Estate.

Another was taken with the senior working royals.

They are Prince William, Kate Middleton, Princess Anne, Sir Tim Laurence, Prince Edward, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Alexandra, The Duke of Kent, The Duchess of Gloucester and The Duke of Gloucester.
