Piers Morgan leads celeb applause for Lewis Hamilton after Brazil Grand Prix win
Gary Lineker and Piers Morgan are among the celebrities celebrating Lewis Hamilton’s win at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday.
Hamilton started 10th after a series of penalties, but on an extraordinary afternoon in Sao Paulo he fought his way past rival Max Verstappen with just 12 laps.
He slashed Verstappen’s title lead from 21 to 14 points with three races left and 78 points still available.
Celebrities applauded Hamilton following his victory, with Match Of The Day’s Lineker writing: ‘ WOW! Unbelievable victory for @LewisHamilton. One of the greatest of his stunning career….make that anyone’s career.
‘Truly stunning. The [goat emoji].’
Former Good Morning Britain presenter Morgan also heaped praise on the Formula 1 driver.
‘Verstappen just got given a driving lesson by Hamilton,’ he penned. ‘That’s how a real champion races a car.’
American actress Gabrielle Union exclaimed: ‘YESSSSSSS!!!! Chills. @LewisHamilton my friend you are one baaaaaddd man!!!! Incredible! If you are late to the F1 party, better late than never. Get. Into. IT!’
Top Gear’s Chris Harris also publicly hailed Hamilton, adding: ‘Wow. Anyone seen a driver have a better race weekend given a few head-winds?’
Following his victory, Hamilton shared an emotional post with his fans.
‘YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO!’ he wrote. ‘This weekend is proof. We fought this battle on the track and I couldn’t be more proud of @mercedesamgf1 and my incredible teammate @valtteribottas who I couldn’t do this without.
‘We keep fighting, keep pushing.’
