Piers Morgan gushes over ‘loyal’ GMB host Laura Tobin as he takes aim at Alex Beresford
Piers Morgan, 55, has gushed over his former Good Morning Britain colleague Laura Tobin today, as the weather presenter celebrated her 40th birthday. The Life Stories host shared a gorgeous snap of the glamorous TV personality wearing a pair of racy leather trousers as he called her “my kinda weather presenter” amid his ongoing “feud” with Alex Beresford.
On Twitter, he typed in view of his eight million followers: “Happy 40th Birthday to the fabulous @Lauratobin1– brilliant meteorologist, possessor of leather trousers [no apologies to any wokies offended] and thoroughly decent & loyal [ex] colleague. (sic)
“My kinda weather presenter, “ he added alongside a wink face emoji, in reference to his now-infamous onscreen row with GMB weatherman Alex Beresford.
Alongside the sweet message, Piers shared a snap of Laura looking stylish in a pair of fashion-forward red leather trousers paired with a burgundy jumper.
The weather presenter completed the look with a pair of snake print stilettos and kept her luscious brunette locks down in a voluminous blow-dry.
Piers and Alex clashed in a heated debate back in March over the latter’s dismissive commentary on Meghan Markle’s mental health.
The Duchess of Sussex had spoken frankly to Oprah Winfrey on the difficulties she faced while being in the UK as a working senior royal, during a CBS special programme featuring her husband Prince Harry.
In one particularly shocking statement, the Duchess declared at one point she was “no longer wanting to be alive” during 2019, after struggling in the palace.
After the Oprah clip aired, the father of four said: “I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she says.
“I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report.”
The next day, Piers proceeded to further address his divisive comments about Meghan’s mental health.
He said: “When we talked about this yesterday, I said as an all-encompassing thing I don’t believe what Meghan Markle is saying generally in this interview, and I still have serious concerns about the veracity of a lot of what she said.
“But let me just state on the record my position about mental illness and on suicide. These are clearly extremely serious things that should be taken extremely seriously, and if someone is feeling that way they should get the treatment and help they need every time.”
However, Piers ended up storming off the show after becoming embroiled in a heated debate with Alex over his rants about Meghan.
Alex, who has a white mother and a dad with Guyanese heritage, felt strongly about Piers’ most recent comments about Meghan and Harry, and told him: “This is absolutely diabolical behaviour.”
Meanwhile, an Ofcom spokesperson said: “We have launched an investigation into Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain under our harm and offence rules.”
Piers later handed in his resignation, with ITV delivering a statement that confirmed they had “accepted this decision” and the star later said he “does not regret” his comments on the Duchess.
