Piers Morgan was like a kid in a candy shop at the Super Bowl as he couldn’t help but be a fanboy when he bumped into Jim Carrey.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter was among the countless stars who attended this year’s Super Bowl in Inglewood, California on Sunday.

He was amid bonafide A-listers such as Beyonce, Jay Z, Kanye West, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, but it was Ace Ventura star Carrey who left him starstruck.

Sharing the moment with his Twitter followers, Piers posted the selfies he took with the comedy icon and his son Albert ‘Bertie’.

The TV presenter wrote: ‘When you come out of the Super Bowl, spot ⁦@JimCarrey⁩ on a golf cart, take a pic of your son (big fan) running backwards alongside him, and Jim clocks you & shouts “Wait…. PIERS MORGAN????!! Man, I’m sorry we’ve been so hard on you….hahaha”.

‘Only in Hollywood, baby.’

Piers’ followers were both impressed and amused by the anecdote, with one commenting: ‘Living the dream piers Living the dream.’

Another quipped: ‘A worldstar comedian and his biggest fanboy. And oh, his son aswell.’

‘Great spot!  Awww your son will be made up!  Brilliant!’ one follower wrote.

Piers has been based at his home in California in recent weeks but he’ll be getting back to work soon with his brand new TV programme launching this spring.

After leaving Good Morning Britain in March 2021, Piers will be launching his very own show on TalkTV.

Earlier this month, he shared the first snap of his new studio and said: ‘BREAKING: First (very early) glimpse of my spanking new work home,’ he wrote.

‘If you judge a man by the size of his studio then I’ll be MASSIVE when my new global daily prime-time TV show launches in a few weeks. ps relax, those aren’t actually dance-floor lights… ????.’

Promoting his brand new series, the TV star quipped: ‘I’ll be a tri-continent irritant which is something I’ve been aspiring to be for quite some time… If you’ve missed me on morning TV, I’m sorry, I’ll be back very soon.

‘If you haven’t missed me, I’m not sorry.’

The network will offer ‘a mix of programming from News UK’s stable of household brands’ covering news, sports, entertainment and current affairs with a sprinkling of opinion and debate.
