Photos: Google Photos may get a cinematic effect feature: What it means for users – Times of India

Google is reportedly testing an on-demand cinematic effect feature for its photo-sharing and storage service, Photos. According to a report by Android Police, the option to create cinematic photos on-demand has appeared for some users. The report claims that the new feature will be available under the ‘Utilities’ option in Google Photos‘ Library tab.
How will this feature work
The cinematic photo creator feature will allow users to select a photo and specify the duration of the resulting video. After this, the Google Photos app will create a slow-motion zoom animation of that chosen image. However, users need to note that the quality of the effect will depend on the chosen image.
Magic Eraser tool available for Google Photos
In February 2022, Google rolled out its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered ‘Magic Eraser’ tool in Photos for Google One subscribers. The feature is available for both Android and iPhone users as well as to all Pixel users.
From photo bombers to power lines, this tool can detect disturbances in pictures. Users can access this tool to easily remove unwanted distractions from their photos. With this tool, users can circle or brush the things they want to remove from the photo. As prompted the tool will make them disappear.
Google Photos: Other important features
Google Photos supports an automatic backup feature which creates a backup for the images and videos saved locally on the device every day. The app also allows users to share photos and albums with other users via a link.

Apart from this, Google Photos also supports editing features. With this built-in app, Android users can also crop, rotate orientation, and adjust the exposure as well as colour balance in photos. The app also allows iPhone users to transfer photos saved on their devices to the cloud-based photo-storing service.
However, to do that, iPhone users have to enable the ‘Backup & sync’ feature. Users who aren’t logged into Google Photos will be asked to enter their Google Account credentials.
