PH companies more ‘future-proof’, says SAP

MANILA  -Filipino companies are prepared to ensure the longevity of their operations as they have been making strides in streamlining operations through digital transformation, according to multinational software company SAP.

The Philippines “is definitely right up there” in terms of future-proofing the business, Rudy Abrahams, country manager of SAP Philippines Inc., said in an interview with the Philippine media in Singapore.

Abrahams said the digitalization agenda is evident across the archipelago, particularly in some widely known companies, as not only the country is producing an “important amount” of export-quality goods and services but also Filipino brands are expanding “monumentally” across the globe.

“What you see happening here is a tale of two worlds: digital transformation journeys are being propelled but a lot of the emerging future leaders in the country are also taking the business to the next level,” he added.

Abrahams said, for instance, fast-food restaurant company Jollibee Foods Corp. made groundbreaking progress in selling crowd favorite Chickenjoy on the international market.

“And we know that to have that seamless experience in New York City or in London has to be exactly the same just like you would have it in Makati or Manila and that repeatability comes through shared services, that repeatability comes through shared leadership and particularly on the digital transformation side of things,” Abrahams said.

He said the digital transformation agenda is “extremely high” in JG Summit Holdings Inc., the listed conglomerate of the Gokongwei family.
