It seems biopics about the lives of pop stars who reached peak popularity in the UK in the 1990s and early 2000s are well and truly in vogue right now, with Peter Andre the latest to reveal a film about his life is in the works.

Hot on the heels of Kerry Katona announcing that two screenwriters are working on adapting her latest memoir, Whole Again, into a film – reportedly for Netflix – Aussie icon Peter has shared a similarly intriguing development.

The dad-of-four, who dominated the charts in 1996 with his number two hit Mysterious Girl (which later reached number one after his 2004 appearance on I’m A Celebrity with soon-to-be-wife – and then ex – Katie Price), took to Instagram on Sunday to announce the news.

‘Very, very exciting news (for me anyway),’ the 50-year-old began in a Story.

‘Incredible meeting about doing a film on my life. This is gonna be EPIC,’ he teased, before adding: ‘Watch this space…’

He followed up his news with a series of appropriately movie-themed emoji, including a clapperboard, camera and a bucket of popcorn.

The star also shared the update to his Instagram grid in almost identical words, however he also shared: ‘I’m looking forward to embarking on this journey through the magic of the lens.’

Peter also described himself as ‘forever grateful’.

His fans were thrilled for him too, with one replying: ‘This sounds amazing Peter, can’t wait to watch it xx.’

‘Wow that’s great! You have got all [sic] lot to tell…!’ commented another.

Alongside his music career, Peter also thoroughly embraced the reality TV opportunities offered during his relationship and subsequent marriage to Katie too, with their own Katie & Peter ITV franchise launched.

Following their separation in 2009, after welcoming kids Junior, 18 and 16-year-old Princess together, he also filmed three individual follow-ups, the last one being titled Peter Andre: My Life, which ran from 2011 to 2013.

Peter, who still sings and acts – recently performing in Grease in the West End and also pursuing a movie career – married second wife, NHS doctor Emily MacDonagh in 2015.

They share kids Amelia, nine, and six-year-old Theo.

The trailer for Peter’s most recent project, short film Last Respects, debuted earlier this month.

In the dark comedy, set in 1979, Peter plays an Australian doctor, and dons a rather impressive shaggy wig.

Another of his acting roles was The Other Foot.

The film focused on racist Billy, who wakes up one day as a black man.

Pete plays his racist friend and can be heard saying in the trailer: ‘All of yous, bloody scum.’

He also starred in SnapCatch with his son Junior, which followed two teenagers searching for love online.
