Pep Guardiola ‘makes Pedri decision’ and more Man City transfer rumours

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has proposed a swap deal with Spanish giants Barcelona that would see talented wonderkid Pedri make the switch to the Etihad Stadium.

That is according to reports in Spain, with El Nacional claiming that the City boss — who will be hoping to see his side maintain their winning run against West Ham on Sunday — would like to lure the 19-year-old to England in exchange for Raheem Sterling going the other way.

Sterling scored in City’s 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday, but has been closely linked with an exit from the Etihad Stadium in recent weeks and Barcelona have been central to the speculation.

The Spanish club are reportedly keen on landing the England international as they believe they can offer him the amount of game time that he is after.

However, if the La Liga club is to make a concrete move for Sterling, City reportedly want Pedri in return as part of the deal.

Pedri who celebrated his 19th birthday on Thursday, is considered as one of the brightest and most exciting players in the world and recently won the coveted Golden Boy award.

The young midfielder, who starred for Spain at Euro 2020, is under contract at the Camp Nou until the summer of 2026.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are also interested in signing versatile City attacker Ferran Torres, a report by journalist Gerard Romero claims.

The Spanish giants have reportedly already began drawing up plans to sign the former Valencia man, so much so that they are looking to negotiate a deal with City, in an attempt to lure the 21-year-old back to his homeland.

Torres is currently sidelined through injury, but hitherto made an impressive start to this season, scoring three goals and claiming one assist in his first even appearances.

He is under contract until the summer of 2026, meaning any attempt to lure him away from the current Premier League title holders is unlikely to come cheaply.
